• Photographers — users with an account who upload clips, send reels, and may receive payouts via Stripe Connect.
• Clients — people who open a public reel link (for example /video/…), view a preview, and may pay to unlock full quality. Clients do not need a ReelKoala account.

Depending on how you use the service, we may process:

• Account and auth data — email, authentication identifiers, and profile data needed to run the studio.
• Media and project data — uploaded clips, rendered previews and full reels, project metadata, and optional client contact details you provide (email or phone) for notifications.
• Location data — if the photographer’s device shares GPS when sending a reel, we may store coordinates and a derived city name shown near unlock. Coordinates are not shown to clients.
• Payment data — unlock payments and Connect payout status are processed by Stripe. We store references such as session or transfer identifiers, unlock status, and related metadata. We do not store full card numbers.
• Technical data — IP address, device/browser information, and logs needed for security, debugging, and abuse prevention.
• Communications — emails or SMS we send when you enable client notifications (for example when a reel is ready).

We process personal data to:

• Provide the service (create accounts, store clips, render reels, host public links) — performance of a contract.
• Process unlock payments and photographer payouts — contract and legal obligations (for example accounting).
• Capture shoot location when enabled by the photographer — consent / device permission and legitimate interests in product features (showing city context).
• Secure the platform, prevent fraud, and improve reliability — legitimate interests.
• Comply with law and respond to lawful requests — legal obligation.

We use processors who process data on our instructions, including:

• Supabase — authentication and database
• Google — sign in with Google
• Stripe — payments and Connect payouts
• Cloudflare R2 — media object storage
• AWS / Remotion Lambda — video rendering
• Google Geocoding — city from coordinates (when location is set)
• Resend and/or EuroSMS — email or SMS notifications when configured

Each provider has its own security and privacy commitments. We select providers we believe are appropriate for the service.

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above, including:

• Account and project data while the account is active and for a reasonable period after closure to resolve disputes or legal claims.
• Media (clips, previews, full reels) while needed to deliver the service and for a limited period afterward, unless a longer period is required by law or disputes.
• Payment and payout records as required for tax, accounting, and chargeback handling.

When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it where practicable.

We do not sell personal data. We share data with processors listed above, with Stripe Connect so photographers can receive payouts, and when required by law or to protect rights, safety, or the integrity of the platform. Public reel links are accessible to anyone who has the URL; unlock gates full-quality access according to our Terms.

Some providers may process data outside your country (including outside the EEA/UK). Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or the provider’s lawful transfer mechanisms.

If GDPR or similar laws apply, you may have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to certain processing, and to data portability. You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (in Slovakia, the Office for Personal Data Protection / Úrad na ochranu osobných údajov SR, or another competent authority where you live or work).

ReelKoala is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe a child provided data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

We use cookies and similar storage primarily for authentication and session security. We do not currently run third-party advertising cookies. If we add analytics later, we will update this policy and, where required, request consent.
